Mission

Our mission is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.

This grant is open to FIRST® Tech Challenge teams, and FIRST® Robotics Competition teams for the 2018-19 season.

This grant is re-grantable and will be awarded as follows:

 ·         FIRST® Robotics Competition - $2000

 Grant Requirements:

 ·         Requester must complete a copy of this form for each team identified as eligible for the grant.

 ·         All teams applying for this grant must have an identified Lockheed Martin employee as a coach or mentor during the 2018-19 season.  Please use your work email address to ensure proper verification.

 ·         Teams must register with FIRST® and hold at least a temporary team number prior to applying for a grant.

 ·         Must be participating on a FIRST® Tech Challenge, or FIRST® Robotics Competition team for the current 2018-19 season.  


This grant is open to FIRST® LEGO League teams, FIRST® Tech Challenge teams, and FIRST® Robotic Competition teams for the 2018-19 season. 

NOTE: Each FIRST robotics team is only eligible for one Apple volunteer grant regardless of how many Apple volunteers are volunteering with a team. 

This grant is for registration only and will be awarded as follows:

·         FIRST® LEGO League - $225 

·         FIRST® Tech Challenge - $275 

·         FIRST® Robotics Competition -  $5,000 for Veteran and $6,000 for Rookie teams.

Requester must complete a copy of this form for each team identified as eligible for the grant. 

 

Grant Requirements:

·         All teams applying for this grant must have an identified eligible Apple employee* as a coach or mentor during the 2018-19 season.  *Both full-time and part-time employees are eligible to request a grant for the team.  You must be able to provide the Name, Apple email address, and the HR LOB for this employee.

·         Each FIRST robotics team is only eligible for one Apple volunteer grant regardless of how many Apple volunteers are volunteering with a team.

·         Teams must register with FIRST® and hold at least a temporary team number prior to applying for a grant.

·         Teams must apply and get approval for the Apple FIRST® grant prior to completing (paying for) registration.  You can register with FIRST®, however, teams should not pay for registration as you may potentially forfeit your Apple grant.

·         Applicants or Teams must be participating on a FIRST® LEGO League, FIRST® Tech Challenge, or FIRST® Robotics Competition team for the current 2018-19 season.   
 

FIRST® is excited to announce a funding opportunity exclusively available to FIRST® Robotics Competition Rookie teams participating in the 2019 season!  

FIRST Robotics Competition Rookie Team Grant Details:

  • Awarded teams will receive $6,000 (restricted to registration) over the course of 2 seasons
    • Teams will receive $4,000 in season 1 (2019) and $2,000 in season 2 (2020)
    • Awarded teams will be responsible for raising the additional funding needed each season
  • Teams must apply for grant via this application and meet all criteria in order to be eligible
  • Teams must fulfill grant obligations outlined below to receive the year 2 disbursement

Grant criteria and obligations:

  • Teams must be from a country that has an existing FIRST Robotics Competition event
  • Teams must be a FIRST Robotics Competition Rookie (first year) team
  • Teams must register for an event for the 2019 season before the grant can be applied
  • Teams should have 2 screened mentors

Application must include copy of team fundraising plan.  Fundraising plans should include the following components:

  • Budget
  • Fundraising strategy
  • Timeline of fundraising activities

In order to foster a culture of Gracious Professionalism®, awardees must share lessons learned after their rookie season.

               o   Ex.: upload team fundraising materials to the FIRST Community website, post lessons learned to Facebook, etc.

IMPORTANT:  Failure to perform post-award obligations forfeit year 2 funding.

FIRST will be collaborating with local FIRST Regional Directors while reviewing applications. To find your FIRST Regional Director please visit www.firstinspires.org

APPLICATION DEADLINE:  Applications must be submitted no later than Thursday, November 1st at 11:59 PM EST and must include a fundraising plan.

Teams must register for an event before the grant can be applied to a team's account.
