Dow team grants are available for FIRST® teams who have a Dow employee mentor and/or are based in Dow communities (nearby Dow sites or offices) in the U.S. and Canada-grants for teams in other countries will be subject to a separate process later in the season. Please click here to learn about applicable Dow communities in the U.S.

Disclaimers

  • Dow grants are offered on a “first come, first served” basis. Please note that, the earlier a team applies, the better the chances of having its grant approved.
  • Please note that until July 7, Dow will only review applications that have a Dow mentor tied to it. Other teams may apply but will not have their grant request reviewed before July 8.

 Dow Grant Details

This year, Dow updated its grant process, and teams can earn up to 100% of their category’s registration cost (FLL and FTC teams) and up to $5,000 (FRC teams).

 For FLL and FTC Teams:

Dow will provide 50% of the team's registration cost for teams in Dow communities (teams nearby sites; offices, etc.) and/or teams that have a Dow mentor.

The remaining 50% can be earned based on the following:

  • ID&E Efforts (15%) – team has awareness of its ID&E current gaps and improvement opportunities and at least one initiative on this space.
  • Community Engagement (15%) – team is engaged in the community, successfully describing 1 or more community engagement activities.
  • Title 1 Schools/Free or Reduced Lunch applicants (U.S. only) OR Low-income communities (20%) – if a team is from a low-income background, it automatically qualifies for the 20% amount.

Deadlines to apply for team grant funding from Dow:

*Please remember, these deadlines are subject to change if Dow funding is exhausted before then. Please submit your application as soon as possible for the best chances of approval.

 Important Grant Information

  • Teams should apply for and receive the Dow FIRST grant prior to paying for registration and/or product for the 2024-2025 season. If a team pays for registration before getting a grant, their possibilities to use the grant will be reduced considerably! Please click here to learn more about the FIRST payment policies and the grant utilization options.
  • Teams should be associated with a school or 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (4-H, Girl Scouts, Boys & Girls Club, etc.) in order to be eligible.
  • Please register with FIRST, because every submission requires a team number to process, but remember not to pay yet!
  • Only submit one application for each team you wish to be considered for a grant. Applications with multiple team numbers will only be considered for one grant.
  • Teams will be notified of their grant status within 15 business days of submission.
