FIRST is an inclusive robotics community that prepare young people for the future. Whether it is finding their people or finding their path, students gain the skills and courage to forge ahead with FIRST.
This application is for a grant that covers a new rookie FIRST® LEGO League Explore or FIRST® LEGO League Challenge team registration fee arising from a PAID United States or a Canada-based Class Pack for the 2026-2027 FIRST CANOPY season. During the 2026-2027 season, any registered and paid FIRST LEGO League Explore Class Pack or FIRST LEGO League Challenge Class Pack can use this grant to start a new rookie team of the same program arising from their Class Pack. Grant Guidelines:
- Covers a new, rookie team registration fee only arising from a paid 2026-2027 Class Pack registration
- Teams are responsible for shipping and handling as well as any applicable taxes.
- This is a one-time, one competitive team grant per Class Pack. If you have more than one Class Pack and are looking to start multiple new, rookie teams, you must fill out one application per new, rookie team, per program.
- This grant is only available to start a new, rookie team for the same Class Pack program type (for example: a FIRST LEGO League Challenge Class Pack can only use this grant for a new, rookie FIRST LEGO League Challenge team registration)
- You must have registered and paid for your 2026-2027 season Class Pack to apply for this grant.
- This grant can only be applied towards a new, rookie team registration fee for the 2026-2027 season - this grant cannot be applied to an existing team, regardless if the team is comprised of all new students.
- Only available for United States and Canada-based Class Packs
Rookie Team Grant Values:
- FIRST LEGO League Explore - $140 Team Registration Fee (an FLL Explore team consists of 2-6 members)
- FIRST LEGO League Challenge - $275 Team Registration Fee Only (does not include Challenge Set - sold separately) (an FLL Challenge team consists of up to 10 team members)
Team Registration Guidelines:
- Upload Tax Exempt form in the FIRST Team Dashboard (if applicable)
- You must have (2) registered coaches for each new rookie team
- Ensure Youth Protection Policy (YPP) is completed by both coaches (via your FIRST Dashboard)
- Contact Local Program Provider for a timeline of events within your area to ensure you can compete in the 2026-2027 season. Local event registration is subject to availability.
IMPORTANT:
- FIRST cannot approve a grant application without a team number. New teams for the 2026-2027 season should wait to complete this form until they have been issued a team number.
- DO NOT pay for your team registration (reminder you must have a registered and paid 2026-2027 FIRST Class Pack to apply) before receiving notification of this grant. We cannot offer refunds if you pay for the registration before receiving notice of this grant.

FIRST® is excited to share that our sponsor, Stellantis, has generously offered to fund all returning sites who received the initial Stellantis FIRST LEGO League Class Pack grant for the 2025-2026 season to continue implementation of the same FIRST LEGO League programs you initially implemented (with the exception of FIRST LEGO League Discover, as this program has been discontinued).
Grants for the 2026-2027 season will include funding to cover the registration cost and shipping & handling of the FIRST LEGO League Class Pack programming you implemented during the 2025-2026 last season.
IMPORTANT:
Sites that received the Stellantis grant for 2025-2026 season are NOT eligible to convert their FIRST LEGO League Class Packs to the new FIRST LEGO League Future Edition. If sites are interested in returning for the new season, they will only be eligible for the Class Pack program they initially received (with exception of FIRST LEGO League Discover as it will no longer be offered in the new season.
Grants Requirements and Guidelines:
- Participation of one (1) staff member, per program, in 2-day live, virtual training (14 hours) - a new or returning staff member may attend
- Supply adequate computer devices for robot programming
- Use the FIRST LEGO League Explore and FIRST LEGO League Challenge Class Pack materials (depending on which programs you implemented) to serve a minimum of 24 students per program, whether in multiple groups or at multiple locations.
- Hold a Club "End of Season" event/expo where participating youth celebrate, present, and/or host a mini competition showcasing their involvement over the implementation and present their robot and research project
- Participate in staff and youth surveys and reporting
- Continuing participation in Year 3 as Club situation allows.
- Clubs must be able to complete all grant deliverables by August 30, 2024.
Deadline to Submit Intent to Return: April 24, 2026 Program Activation: Sites may register for the new 2026-2027 season once our registration system opens in May.
